Foundations of Eating Disorders: Training for Dietitians

About this Course:

This introductory course for Dietitians is designed to prepare you to work more confidently, safely and ethically with clients presenting with a range of disordered eating presentations, elevating your knowledge, insights and skills. We are committed to weight inclusivity and trauma-informed care, and this course will be firmly dedicated to upholding these principles from screening to treatment and beyond.

This training has been approved by NEDC as meeting the criteria for "Introduction to Eating Disorders" and can be used towards an ED Credential application.

This course is 11 hours self-paced + 4 hours live online (also recorded)

This foundational training is suitable for Dietitians at any stage of career, working across all sectors who are likely to encounter people at risk of, or who have, an eating disorder. In other words, that’s pretty much everyone! The content is focussed on the key opportunities to play our part in prevention, identification and early intervention and is aligned with the NEDC ED Safe Care Principles and NEDC Stepped System of Care (SSoC) Framework

Completing this course will leave you feeling more clear and confident in understanding your role and scope of practice as a Dietitian in contributing to safe, high quality care to all people, in all bodies. You will also be clear about how to have important conversations which aim to link people into specialist services in a timely way that is best matched to their needs.

Our aim is that you will leave feeling clear in your role and confident in taking the steps in contributing to a workforce where we can take good care of all people, wherever they are along their pathway.

Part 1, the self-paced material, offers comprehensive content and opportunities to pause and reflect, and the live training will bring the material to life and focus on concrete skills to take into practice

Part 2: Assessment and Next Steps

You can watch this recorded (from Oct 2025) and/or you are welcome to join my co-host, highly experienced Dietitian Terrill Bruere and I for 4 hours of live online learning where we will bring the material you've covered so far to life with a deeper dive into assessments and key next steps including providing resources and suitable referral sources for treatment that are matched to what someone most needs.

The next date for live online training is Monday February 10th, 2025 from 9am-1pm AEDT

Once you sign up, you are welcome to dive into the self paced material. Please put the live online date in your calendar and we will be in touch with more information.

Look forward to seeing you soon, and please don't hesitate to reach out at themindfuldietitian@gmail.com with any questions.

Warm wishes,

Fiona
